Empire Cake, a popular gourmet American-style bakery in Greenwich Village, is seeking qualified candidates for Full and cake decorators to join our team! MUST have experience in a high-production environment. We are looking 5 days a week , including at least one weekend day. Part-time weekend positions available.

Cake Decorator Position:
Empire Cake is looking for cake decorators with experience decorating cakes in both buttercream and fondant. The cake decorator's main responsibility is to help design and decorate, from start to finish, custom cakes, including tiered celebration and wedding cakes in both buttercream and fondant,  and decorate with fondant and other materials . Candidates but be able to expertly tint and cover cakes and decorate with both classic and modern buttercream techniques.

The ideal candidate will:
* Have several years experience as a cake decorator in a busy, high-end bakery.
* Have highly developed cake decorating skills (including the ability to quickly sculpt fondant into neat and accurate 2D and 3D figures, cover cakes, shape cakes, inscribe cakes and perfectly stack tiered cakes).
* Have well developed artistic talents that include a skilled sense of composition and design, a great eye for color, and the ability to accurately recreate a color in fondant from a swatch.
* Have well developed artistic talents that include a skilled sense of composition, balance and design. * Be able to create designs with or without reference materials.
* Be professional, reliable, organized and efficient, with excellent time management skills.
* Have a positive, high energy, friendly, enthusiastic, team-oriented attitude.
* Be able to stay calm under pressure.

Culinary school training is a plus, but not necessary; however, several years of professional experience as a cake decorator (including work with fondant and tiered cakes) is required.

Compensation will be based on experience but is highly competitive.
