Job Description

Creative Financial Staffing has partnered with a national nonprofit to identify a Director of Human Resources to join their Massachusetts Chapter. They are seeking an experienced Human Resources professional who has a true passion for working in a community-based nonprofit.

The Director of Human Resources will have hands-on responsibility for the daily operations of the Human Resources function while building out the HR infrastructure to support the run rate of the organization.

  • The Role: Reporting to the CEO, the Human Resources Director plays an integral role in shaping, changing, and reinforcing the company culture by ensuring that there are effective conflict resolution processes, open lines of communication, and clear chains of command to improve the employee-employer relationship and the organizational culture.
  • The Exposure: As a member of the Executive Management Team, the Human Resources Director will be an effective business partner in driving strategic growth while developing a best-in-class human resource function.

The Director of Human Resource's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Play an integral role in shaping, changing, and/or reinforcement of the company culture.
  • Ensure that there are effective conflict resolution processes, open lines of communication, and clear chains of command to improve the employee-employer relationship and the organizational culture.
  • Serve as an advocate for employees, management, and volunteers and encourage problem resolution through the chain of command. Diagnose and determine the scope of organizational issues, leverage service area, and system HR resources to deliver effective solutions to drive necessary cultural change and outcomes. Influence operational outcomes that improve efficiency, productivity and reduces cost.
  • Provide advice, recommendations, and coaching to leaders on HR and workforce issues.
  • Lead employee engagement activities.
  • Advise leaders on and ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and practices, and manage day-to-day employee and labor relations.
  • Provide direction and support to management with an interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Provide education and advice on proper documentation and/or legal requirements for performance improvement and termination process.
  • Attend program staff meetings to enhance HR/employee relations
  • Advise management and ensure compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to human resources.
  • Oversee recruitment process for all aspects of the organization. Assess the effectiveness of direct marketing efforts to bring quality talent to the organization. Oversee and direct the new employee orientation. Assess, monitor, and evaluate the onboarding process for key personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced capabilities in business management with 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of management experience; Leadership ability and strategic thinking to plan organize and execute objectives.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit environment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, human resources best practices, and liability insurance
  • Sound and accurate judgment leading to timely decision-making.
  • Self-motivated, highly collaborative leader with strong professional and spiritual standards which reflect positively in internal matters as well as external relations.
  • Must be compassionate and understanding of employee's needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including conflict resolution and well-organized conceptualization.
  • Analytical ability to conduct complex assessments regarding personnel, financial resources, and business relationships.
  • Experience creating and integrating a new Human Resource platform
