Job Description

Join an Early Childhood team in Milford, DE, as a skilled Occupational Therapist specializing in school-based early childhood services. This contract position for the 2023-24 school year offers the opportunity to support children ages 2-5 in an early intervention setting, focusing on developing their fine motor, sensory processing, self-regulation, and daily living skills to promote classroom success and overall independence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-regulation, and daily living abilities.
• Design and implement individualized therapy plans and goals within the framework of the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Provide direct occupational therapy services and consult with teachers in classroom, small group, or individual formats.
• Collaborate with educators to integrate developmentally appropriate strategies into daily classroom routines.
• Monitor, document, and report progress toward IEP goals following state and federal compliance standards.
• Participate in evaluations, eligibility determinations, IEP meetings, and transition planning.
• Partner with parents and guardians to encourage skill development in home and community settings.
• Promote student autonomy and access to curriculum and learning environments.

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Valid state license as an Occupational Therapist and/or NBCOT registration.
• Certification through the State Department of Education as required for school practice.
• Experience working with early childhood populations, particularly those with developmental delays or disabilities.
• Strong knowledge of sensory integration, motor development, and play-based interventions.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Familiarity with IDEA, early childhood special education, and inclusive classroom models.
• Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment in preschool settings.
• Bilingual abilities are advantageous.
• Background in school-based or pediatric occupational therapy preferred.
