Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer of the Dallas Mavericks, the Events Director will be the strategic business leader of Event Management executing events from start to finish, including Event Planning, Event Strategy/Design, Banquets/Catering, Production/AV, Guest Service and Event Technology for a wide-range of Mavs events for game day, community, internal employees, season ticket holders and corporate partnership. The Events Director will manage a team of direct reports and external vendors with a focus on people leadership, relationship building, conflict management and employee coaching and development. Essential Job Functions: Monitors and controls event budgets and monthly financial assessment Negotiates all necessary contracts Financial review, expense tracking and reporting with a focus on excellence and creating memorable experiences while maintaining an eye for fiscal responsibility Supervise and motivate staff to maximize human resource potential in producing high quality events. Oversees direct reports to review scheduled events and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts Ensure effective communication from the top down and bottom up through participating in and/or leading regular meetings Coaching and development to recruit, retain and grow high-performing staff Develops an Event Management strategy that is aligned with the brands business goals Researches, benchmarks and understands trends and innovations in event planning, design and production Creates events with memorable wow moments and experiences that excite, unite and inspire MFFLs Solicits guest and internal client reviews of each event and evaluates, analyzes data and implements improvements Event Execution: Oversees events planning team and execution of Mavs events across several departments Management of event logistics (permitting, setup, bids, scheduling, overall structure) and oversees execution including dcor, guest management, security, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, AV, VIP gifting and hospitality, and marketing and promotional materials Cross-Department Relationships & Support: Works with other departments of the Dallas Mavericks to ensure full support and achievement of business goals for special events and programming Builds and maintains a strong network of providers for event venues, AV/production, food and beverage catering, talent bookers and other event vendors and connections Perform other duties as assigned Education and Experience: 5+ years of supervisory experience with event management required Bachelors degree in marketing, business administration, tourism, hotel management, or related field Proven experience in event planning and well-established connections with DFW vendors for high-end, large-scale events Strategic thinker to develop event strategy aligned with the brands business goals Working knowledge and understanding of how to conceptualize, organize and implement special events Highly effective people leader with experience leading high-performing teams, managing cross-department relationships, and staff coaching and development Skilled in project management and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment Detail oriented with excellent organizational and leadership skills Keen analytical and critical thinking Clear written and verbal communication and time management skills with excellent attention to detail Outstanding problem-solving skills and experience managing conflict and troubleshooting in a professional manner Highly motivated, self-directed, and results driven Must possess good interpersonal communication skills and high emotional intelligence with the ability to build trust and collaborative relationships Must have strong leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with staff Must demonstrate excellence in consultation, facilitation, and influence Must be able to lift 50 pounds Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours Job Type: Full-Time The Dallas Mavericks provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. #J-18808-Ljbffr Mavs Foundation
