At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Financial Analyst I

Salary Range: $22.00 - $26.49 an hour

Position Summary

As a member of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, this position is responsible for assisting and maintaining the budget/forecasting and financial reporting system (Axiom) of the bank. Additionally, this position will prepare analysis of financial data for all aspects of the bank, including budgeting and forecasting.


Primary Accountabilities

  • Assist with the monthly earnings process and financial variance analysis.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of the quarterly forecast and budgeting process.
  • Assist in the ongoing evaluation and analysis of operating business units using financial analysis and modeling tools including general ledger research.
  • Assist with the production of monthly, quarterly and year-end management reports including ad hoc reports as requested by management.
  • Assist in the performance and provide backup of the company wide Management Reporting and Budgeting/Forecasting system, including but not limited to:
  • Data integration from multiple sources including the core and warehouse
  • Report Writing
  • User Administration
  • Update system with new releases
  • Maintain system security to the users
  • Support the quarterly rolling forecast and the annual forecast budget
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the internal reporting structure.
  • Work on activities and projects with others inside and outside of the Finance department; may lead small projects and coordinate resources.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years experience, preferably Budget/Management Reporting system experience in a banking environment.
  • Superb communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
