Job Description

Overview


The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate heavy equipment such as a dump truck, crew truck with trailer, excavator, loader, backhoe, and forklift. They will maintain assigned equipment in a safe operating condition.


Responsibilities
• Drive crew truck with trailers to and from job sites
• Safely operate various size excavators for wastewater/water repairs
• Drive various size dump trucks, hauling dirt to and from work sites
• Responsible for the physical condition of equipment by inspecting equipment and issuing work orders for repair and maintenance
• Generate daily/weekly/monthly safety inspection reports of equipment as needed
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on CCW equipment
• Perform diagnosis and repairs to CCW equipment at job sites
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and vendors verbally and in writing
• Perform other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required


Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non-Exempt - Full-Time
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED
• Two (2) years of experience


Licenses and Certifications


Required
• A valid Class A driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class A driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating


A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
