BUSINESS: Warren Pumps & Portland Valves

LOCATION: Warren, MA

DIRECT REPORTING: Vice President - General Manager of Warren

FUNCTIONAL REPORTING: Director of HR

 

POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The HR Manager is a key business partner to the leadership team who focuses on talent management, policy interpretation, employee relations, recruitment/staffing, learning and development, employee engagement, compensation, and performance management responsibilities.  

Principal Activities

  • HR Policies/Procedures: Administer human resources plans and procedures for all location personnel; assist in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbook and policies and procedures manual
  • Communications: Coordinate employee communication to promote employee understanding of programs, policies, and objectives
  • Employee Relations: Counsel supervisory personnel on employee relation matters, including employee discipline, and resolution of employee grievances
  • Recruitment & Selection: Conduct recruitment effort for open positions and support hiring managers in the selection process (from cultural fit, competency, behavior standpoints)
  • Compensation: Ensure uniform interpretation and application of wage and salary policy to provide internally equitable employee compensation; helps maintain job descriptions and evaluations on an accurate and current basis. Communicate total compensation opportunity to employees and respond to employee questions related to applicable Compensation plans and programs
  • Training and development: Assist in identifying training needs and work to implement programs. Facilitates training sessions locally when applicable
  • Engagement: Organize employee engagement activities
  • Benefits: Perform benefits administration and communicating benefits information to employees. Manage STD and LTD process with 3 rd part provider
  • Performance Management: Coordinate performance reviews and performance improvement processes for all employees; ensure consistent application of corporate policies and procedures
  • Career & Succession Planning: Work with Senior Leadership and Department heads to identify concerns on skill gaps and potential advancement opportunities to address succession concerns and keep employees engaged with stretch assignments and new opportunities
  • Record Keeping: Establish and maintain adequate personnel records for past and present employees
  • Performance Management: Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.? Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.? Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong computer skills and experience with office management and communication software
  • Ability to understand statistical data and mathematical concepts and how to apply them to HR processes
  • Excellent leadership, training, and developmental skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with employment legal requirements including but not limited to EEO/AAP, COBRA, FMLA, FLSA, unemployment. workers compensation
  • Ability to comprehend complex language, theories, and methodologies
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements for a Union

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS in Human Resources or related field
  • 7+ years of HR Generalist experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a HR Manager
  • Previous experience with, UltiPro, SuccessFactors, ADP and Career Builder/ TSR Applicant Tracking System (ATS) a plus
