Job Details

As an Outpatient Pharmacist Oncology (PRN), located in the Taussig Cancer Center, you'll provide essential pharmacy services by ensuring the safe and appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders for oncology patients. In this rewarding role, you'll support bedside delivery, process outpatient prescriptions and provide medications that help manage the side effects of chemotherapy for patients receiving treatment in the outpatient setting. You'll be part of a compassionate, impactful team dedicated to helping patients feel supported and cared for throughout their cancer journey.

This is a PRN position. A caregiver in this role will work varying shifts Monday through Fridays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide pharmacy services and ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders.
  • Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based medication services.
  • Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
  • Contribute to medication safety initiatives.
  • Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards.
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences.
  • Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.
  • Be accountable for drug use policy adherence.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • PharmD or Bachelor's of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible in current state within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations within 90 days of hire for those administering immunizations

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience
  • Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area (i.e. Critical Care, Oncology)
  • Board Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
