About This Opportunity
The Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of project quality assurance, construction administration, and coordination. This position will also assist in managing and coordinating the efforts of subcontractors on various projects, including assisting with change order pricing, stakeholder communications, and preparing meeting agendas and minutes.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
Project Administration & Documentation: Utilizes Procore and Okland-standard forms; maintains organized electronic and hard copy project files, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, drawings, and as-builts.
Drawing & Change Management: Keeps drawings up to date with RFIs, submittals, and change documents; distributes updates and logs for team and owner meetings.
RFIs & Change Orders: Creates, reviews, and tracks RFIs; coordinates responses with design teams and subcontractors; processes and logs change order requests and impacts.
Submittals & Procurement: Develops and maintains submittal logs and schedules; reviews submittals for compliance; oversees long-lead items with the superintendent.
Meetings & Communication: Prepares agendas and meeting minutes; participates in project meetings including OAC, kickoff, job review, and others.
Project Start & Closeout: Conducts preconstruction site visits and documentation; manages closeout process from Day 1 through warranty walk, including manuals, punch lists, and financial wrap-up.
Site Coordination & Support: Assists in quality control and ensures compliance with approved submittals; provides updated drawings and specs to subcontractors.
Field Documentation & Monitoring: Takes photos, compiles reports, and maintains daily project records to document progress and compliance.
Software & Directory Management: Uses project software (e.g., Procore, Prolog) to manage directories and project files; keeps systems updated for the team.
Safety & Attendance: Helps enforce safety standards on-site; regular, dependable attendance is required; performs additional duties as assigned.
YOU’RE READY FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE
Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of related experience working on commercial construction projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Requirements
Extensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures and techniques, as well as applicable local, state and federal building codes.
General knowledge of LEED principles.
Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and tools, and proficiency in skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasks.
Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
Thorough and attentive to details; ability to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-oriented.
Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and employees at all levels of the organization.
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, blue prints, construction documents, contract documents and specifications
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Possess strong computer skills; proficient in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook, and document editing software (e.g., BlueBeam, Adobe Acrobat, etc.). Ability to navigate and/or use CAD software.
