Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position specializing in infectious disease patients on a dayshift in an acute care setting, requiring a WV or compact RN license and prior travel experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Position is in an 18-bed Med/Surg unit focused on infectious disease cases, including COVID, MRSA, and C-Diff
• Acute care hospital environment with all private rooms
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6, or 1:4 for COVID patients
• Unit is typically staffed with 3-4 RNs and 2 CNAs per shift
• Uses Epic EMR system with 1 day of Epic orientation and 1 day on-floor preceptorship
• 12-hour day shifts (07:00-19:30) with every other weekend required
• Travelers must be available for block scheduling depending on unit needs
• Floating is required to any Med/Surg unit and may include assignment to Tele with patients within skillset
• Remote telemetry monitoring present, RNs not required to read or interpret strips
• Caring for patients with a wide range of infectious diseases in isolation
• Charge nurse is present on the unit 24/7 and may take patient assignments
• Royal blue scrubs required, including jackets if worn; hoodies and non-scrub jackets are not permitted
• Holiday staffing will depend on unit needs; travelers may be required to work holidays
• Travelers are first to float when needed
• No vent patients, but may encounter CPAP, BiPAP, or high flow O2 therapies managed by RT
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility (no local travelers permitted)
• Returning travelers to this health system must have a 2-year break after one year of cumulative service

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience with infectious disease and isolation precautions
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification
• Strong Med/Surg skills with confident knowledge in infection control and isolation procedures
• Must provide an unexpired driver’s license for consideration
