Warehouse Manager – Distribution Center

Location: Romulus, MI
Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000 per year
Schedule: 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and holidays as needed. Shifts average 8–10 hours and may vary based on customer demand.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead operations in a 200,000 sq. ft. distribution center operating across two shifts with 60 team members . This position is both hands-on and strategic — balancing daily execution with long-term planning. You’ll have full responsibility for P&L performance, workforce leadership, and process improvement while maintaining the highest standards of safety, service, and accountability.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, motivates teams, and drives continuous improvement. Occasional travel may be required for training and best-practice support at other facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all warehouse operations, including receiving, picking, shipping, and workflow management across two shifts.
• Manage P&L performance, budgets, and cost-control initiatives to maintain profitability.
• Recruit, onboard, and develop new hires; oversee staff offboarding in coordination with administration.
• Partner with administrative staff on HR-related functions such as hiring documentation, scheduling, training compliance, and performance tracking.
• Supervise, coach, and develop a workforce of 60 employees while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork.
• Collaborate directly with customers and carriers to resolve issues, improve service levels, and strengthen relationships.
• Leverage WMS tools, reporting, and data analysis to monitor KPIs and drive informed decision-making.
• Lead Lean and process-improvement initiatives that boost efficiency, reduce errors, and optimize labor utilization.
• Ensure OSHA compliance, conduct safety audits, and oversee equipment maintenance.
• Serve as a visible, hands-on leader who balances floor presence with reporting, planning, and staff development.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of warehouse or logistics management experience in a high-volume environment.
• Proven experience managing large teams (50+ associates) and multi-shift operations.
• Strong understanding of warehouse workflows, labor planning, and distribution operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Familiarity with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and OSHA safety standards.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage frontline staff, administrative teams, and senior leadership.
• Flexible and dependable, with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for training and operational support.
